Indiana State Auto Insurance Requirements
If you plan to drive a car within Indiana, you must purchase auto liability insurance. Indian state law requires that all drivers purchase auto liability coverage that meets the state minimum requirements. Your auto liability policy must include bodily injury coverage in the amount of $25,000 or greater per person and $50,000 per accident. Drivers must also carry property damage liability coverage as well. Property damage coverage must be a minimum of $25,000 per accident. These state minimums must be met to drive within the state legally. However, you may be required to carry more coverage if you have an auto loan or lease. However, these requirements aren't state requirements but may be a requirement if you have an auto loan or lease.
Uninsured/Underinsured Auto Coverage
Indiana drivers may also be required to carry uninsured motorist coverage. Coverage limits must be met at $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident. Underinsured motorist coverage may also be a requirement, with a minimum of $50,000 in bodily injury coverage and a minimum of $25,000 in property damage coverage.
