RV Insurance Requirements
RV insurance is required in the state of Indiana. The numbers will vary depending on the state. Just like regular automobiles, you must meet the minimum insurance requirements, including:
- Bodily injury liability for each person for $25,000
- Bodily injury liability for each accident for $50,000
- Property damage coverage for $25,000
Liability insurance doesn’t cover any damage sustained to your RV in the event of an accident. Instead, it pays for the property damage and or injuries you caused to another person following an accident.
RV Insurance Coverage
Additionally, you can choose the following insurance coverage options to protect you:
- Collision - Collision insurance will cover damage expenses for your RV that occurred following an accident with another motorist.
- Comprehensive - This covers damage expenses for your RV that occurred due to storms, theft, vandalism, objects, animals, etc. Comprehensive coverage will protect your RV against what collision coverage does not cover.
- Uninsured/underinsured - If an uninsured or underinsured motorist hits your RV, this will cover damage expenses and compensate you if you and your passengers are injured.
- Personal item coverage - This will cover your personal belongings inside your RV if they become lost or even damaged following an accident.
- Vacation liability- This is beneficial for those who use their RV often and also use it to live while they are out on vacation.
